SFDR MILITARY FAMILY RESOURCES

SFDR is Committed to Supporting Our Military Families

In an effort to better support students of military members in our community, SFDR local schools works to identify and inform teachers of the military-connected students in their classrooms and the special considerations and resources they should receive. Military family members can contact the school liaison officer for their child's school with any questions.

LAFB School Liaison Officer

School Liaison Officers (SLO’s) are located on military installations and serve as the direct point of contact for military connected families. School Liaison Officers work to assist families with school transitions, navigating the school system, and accessing educational resources.  SLO’s also work with leaders of military installations, school and community partners to provide information and access to opportunities for military-connected students. Our School Liaison Officer is Kimberly Mobley. This is her contact information:

Child Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselors (CYB-MFLC)

Child and youth behavioral military and family life counselors provide support to military children for a variety of issues, including low self-esteem, behavioral problems and changes at home. These counselors, who are part of the Military and Family Life Counseling Program, understand the issues military children face and can be especially helpful during challenging periods, including deployments and PCS moves. Counselors are licensed with a master's degree or higher, and have a positive effect on:

·  General behavior

·  Performance in school

·  Relationships with family members and teachers

CYB-MFLC’s offer private and confidential non-medical counseling through telehealth services at no charge to children and family members of active duty, National Guard, Reserve, Department of Defense Civilians, and school staff. For more information regarding these services, contact:
