SFDRCISD Board and Superintendent Team Attend TASB’s Summer Leadership Institute
June 18, 2018– San Felipe Del Rio CISD’s Board of Trustees attended the annual Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) June 13 -16 in San Antonio, Texas. SLI is the flagship training conference for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and is designed to offer new and experienced school trustees the information they need to successfully lead and advocate for their students and their communities.
Under the Texas Education Code (TEC), §11.159, school board members must complete specified hours of continuing education on an annual basis in fulfillment of assessed needs and based on the framework for governance leadership. This year’s topics included a new required training enacted by Senate Bill 1566, and several other session categories related to improving student achievement including District Culture, Engagement and Advocacy, Fiscal Responsibility, Policy and Legal, Student Achievement and Visionary Team.
During the SLI conference, TASB recognized school districts who had 100% of their school board/superintendent teams in attendance. Attending the conference were Board President Mr. Raymond Meza; Vice-President, Linda Guanajuato-Webb; Secretary, Diana Gonzales; Members, Ken Smith, Amy Haynes, Joshua D. Overfelt, Fred Contreras; and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Carlos Rios. TASB congratulates San Felipe Del Rio CISD for being in full attendance among several Texas school districts!
