Del Rio’s Robotics Team 4063 Receives FIRST Chairman’s Award
Del Rio’s Robotics Team 4063 has one more reason to smile and cheer. This weekend, the Del Rio Robotics’ team was awarded the Chairman’s Award-the most prestigious award by FIRST at the El Paso FIRST District Event in El Paso, Texas.
This distinction honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST. The Chairman’s Award is presented to the team judged to have the most significant measurable impact of its partnerships among its participants and community over a sustained period, not just a single build season. The winner is able to demonstrate progress towards FIRST’s mission of transforming their culture.
Del Rio’s Robotics Team 4063 has demonstrated a legacy of Gracious Professionalism that is evident in all they do. With over 10,000 hours of community service in the last five years, this team is working hard to make their mothers proud and paving the way for the generations that follow behind them. This team has found creative ways to reach 90% of the schools in their school district and have even outfitted the Mayor with robotics team paraphernalia.
Above and beyond the STEM skills that we all hold dear, this team has also recognized the value of honing their technical writing, branding, and public speaking skills and the importance that holds in breaking stereotypes and spreading their influence. The judges in the El Paso event were tickled PINK to see how this team put FUN in everything they do. Through the Chairman’s Award, 4063 has earned automatic qualification to the State Championships in April. FIRST proudly congratulates this year’s Chairman’s Award winner Team number 4063 TriKzR4Kidz!
