Roberto "Bobby" Barrera Elementary STEM School Military Liaison 
Michael Evans is our dedicated school counselor and Military Liaison at Roberto Bobby Barrera Elementary STEM School, a designated Purple Star Campus.
In his role as Military Liaison, Mr. Evans serves as the primary point of contact for our military-connected students and their families. He works to ensure smooth transitions, provide ongoing support, and connect families with resources tailored to the unique needs of military life.
In addition to his counseling and liaison responsibilities, Mr. Evans leads our Anchored4Life student leadership program—empowering students to support one another through transitions, build resilience, and foster a positive school climate.
His commitment to our students and families plays a vital role in making RBB Elementary a welcoming, supportive community for all.

SFDR is Committed to Supporting Our Military Families

In an effort to better support students of military members in our community, SFDR local schools works to identify and inform teachers of the military-connected students in their classrooms and the special considerations and resources they should receive. Military family members can contact the school liaison officer for their child's school with any questions. 

LAFB School Liaison Officer

School Liaison Officers (SLO’s) are located on military installations and serve as the direct point of contact for military connected families. School Liaison Officers work to assist families with school transitions, navigating the school system, and accessing educational resources.  SLO’s also work with leaders of military installations, school and community partners to provide information and access to opportunities for military-connected students. Child Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselors (CYB-MFLC)

Child and youth behavioral military and family life counselors provide support to military children for a variety of issues, including low self-esteem, behavioral problems and changes at home. These counselors, who are part of the Military and Family Life Counseling Program, understand the issues military children face and can be especially helpful during challenging periods, including deployments and PCS moves. Counselors are licensed with a master's degree or higher, and have a positive effect on:

·  General behavior

·  Performance in school

·  Relationships with family members and teachers

 CYB-MFLC’s offer private and confidential non-medical counseling through telehealth services at no charge to children and family members of active duty, National Guard, Reserve, Department of Defense Civilians, and school staff. For more information regarding these services, contact:

Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission

The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children (Military Compact) exists to strengthen transitions and close educational gaps as military families and their children move to a new school district in another state. The Military Compact applies to Active-Duty Service Members, National Guard, Reserve, Veterans medically discharged or retired for one year, and members who die on active duty. 

The Military Compact is focused on the following key topics:

·  Educational records and enrollment

·  Course and program placement and attendance

·  Eligibility (student enrollment and extracurricular participation)

·  Graduation

Governor Abbott Releases Video Resource For Active-Duty Military And Spouses Transferring To Texas

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Military Preparedness Commission today released a video resource for active-duty military and their spouses to increase awareness of the services offered by the State of Texas to military members and families who are about to transfer or have transferred into the state.
