The Anchored 4 Life program was established during SY 2020-2021. The program is run by our counselor, Annette Ramos, and her advisors: Lizbeth Molina and Priscilla Gomez. Together, they work with selected fourth and fifth grade students who are chosen to work as Team Leaders. The students in the program are selected by the teacher's recommendation. The Anchored 4 Life program provides additional support for those students that are having difficulties with any of the following:

Deployment
Transition
Entering the school as a new student

and few other difficulties and challenges that students living the military lifestyle and culture face. The students that are Team Leaders in the Anchored 4 Life program are able to work with their peers and allow the other students that are having difficulties and challenges to feel more comfortable with being able to speak with someone else that is not an adult and is instead a student like themselves. It makes the student with the difficulties and challenges to feel better being able to speak with someone that is not only closer to their age but may be able to relate to their personal experiences and help them to get through difficult times by sharing with each other ideas, questions, and discussions about the various topics and subject matter.

Team Leaders also do guided tours for new families and guests, following Covid-19 guidelines.

WHAT ARE CREWMEMBERS?

Our Crewmembers are classroom leaders and buddies for students who transition to our school.

WHAT DO CREWMEMBERS DO?

The main job of a Crewmember is to be a greeter and to be that positive, caring person who eats lunch with a new student and be generally helpful as the new student settles into new surroundings. They also help to transition the new student into the routine of their classroom. Some of the points that they are trained on are:

*Responsibilities in the Classroom (Classroom procedures)

*Lunch Procedures

*Recess Procedures

*Discussing the After School Clubs/Activities

*Planners

*Homework

*Uniform policy

*School Song

WHO BECOMES A CREWMEMBER AND HOW ARE THEY NOMINATED?

Teachers choose two Crewmembers from each classroom at various times during the school year.

*Each Crewmember receives a manual for reference, training and a special lanyard to wear so that they are recognized for their participation in the program.

WHAT TEACHERS NEED TO KNOW/DO

If you know of a student that has a parent that is recently deployed/new to our school/having difficulties with transition etc. Please contact our program leads so they can get in touch with your student.
