The SFDRCISD Education Foundation President, Belinda Reyes, explains that in 2012, the Board of Trustees created the “Education Foundation”, a non-profit organization, for the sole purpose of fundraising for activities and/or uses not otherwise provided by public monies. She adds that the purpose of the Education Foundation’s vision is twofold:

  • To provide scholarships to students in our community who exhibit leadership, drive, and the true desire to be successful as they continue in their education; and,
  • To provide access to grants for teachers within the San Felipe Del Rio CISD that want to expand their scope of instruction in and out of the classroom, through innovative and creative “outside the box" methods of teaching.

Over the past four years, the SFDRCISD Education Foundation has been able to accomplish this vision through fundraising efforts such as “Dinner on the Creek” and charitable contributions from individuals and business organizations. In the four years of offering Innovative Teaching Grants, the SFDRCISD Education Foundation has proudly awarded a total of $60,921 in grant monies allowing 60 local educators to bring their visions to life.
