 SFDRCISD Board Of Trustees

Kelt Cooper - Superintendent of Schools

 Ramon Meza - President

 Stanley Blackstone - Vice President

Mr. Blackstone graduated from Texas A&I, Kingsville, Texas in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science and the University of Houston in 1973 with an advanced degree as a pharmacist.

Currently, the board has the ability to really work together to accomplish goals without a political agenda on the part of a few members.

Mr. Blackstone enjoys the opportunity to participate in the improvement of our fiscal responsibilities as a district entity, to help improve the physical state of our buildings and campuses. Most importantly, help share with our administrators, teachers, and trustees in improving the quality of education for our children.

Mr. Blackstone's top priorities as a board member are:

Short Range: Achieve Fiscal Stability

Longer Range: Improve our financial picture over a 3-5 year projected time frame

Now and Later: Review and help drive our district toward better curriculums and give the teachers tools and freedom to teach. Take pressure off teachers so they can enjoy teaching and perform less administrative, data accumulating, and less focus on SCORES on STATE TESTS, and emphasize learning over training to score well.

 Pamela Smith - Board Secretary

Mrs. Smith graduated from Moorhead State University, Moorhead, Minnesota.

Elected 2006

Two greatest accomplishments since serving on the board:  Being part of the board during the search for a new superintendent has been my greastest accomplishment so far.  Simply knowing the impact this decision would have on the immediate and distant future of our district was an awesome responsibility.  Another important contribution I feel I have made is offering my perspective from the classroom Teachers are the heart of any district and must have a voice in the educational process.

The single most important thing you enjoy about serving on the SFDRCISD Board of Trustees: Education is my passion.  I truly enjoy being part of Del Rio's educational commumity.  I cannot think of anything more fulfilling.

What are your top priorties as a board member: I want to ensure that every student is challenged to his fullest.  Proof of this happing will be seen in our graduation rate and int eh level of college readiness our students achieve.

 Sandie Bostick

Mr. Bostick graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelors Degree ing Journalism

Elected June 2008

Greatest accoplisments: Hiring a new superintendent.  Exposing the inactivity and incompentence of the special education department, of which I am sure Mr. Cooper will correct.

Most enjoyed:  Seeing how a district the size of SFDR operates financially.

  1. Priorities:
  2. Providing the best education for our students that our tax dollars afford us.
  3. Giving the tax payers the best return on their investment.
  4. Making sure our district is successful and efficient.
